My name is Austin DeArmond and I will be accompanying you as a missionary to Swaziland this summer from May 29th to July 29th. The excitement within me is growing daily my friends. I’m 18 years old and live in the sweet Southern state of Alabama, the heart of Dixie. God has done some amazing works in my life since he called me out of the realm of sin and death long ago. By grace I can truly say with a pure heart that apart from Him I am nothing. Jesus Christ came into my world almost five years ago and has completely renovated this child of sin‘s life. All glory rightly belongs to my Christ!
Well, here’s a little bit of information about me. I love to play guitar, bass, and mandolin in my spare time. I’d say I’m better at electric guitar but haven’t mastered the thing yet. I’m almost resolved to bring a guitar with me so we can play and sing with the children. I love to read, hike, swim, and most outdoor things here in Bama. MUSIC!!!! I love all kinds of music. Of course, Christian rock and worship music is important, but I enjoy a host of other genres as well. I love 50s-80s music, Blues, Southern, Classic Rock, Folk, and a little bit of old Country music. Truth be known, I am a horrible singer…but that hasn’t stopped me in the past from just belting the songs out! I love my family, church, and friends. God has truly blessed me in those areas.
I’ve just completed my first semester at Southeastern Bible college where I am majoring in Bible/theology with a minor in intercultural missions. I know my life has a specific calling to missions and I can do nothing but be obedient to the One who redeemed me. I cannot wait to get back out in the field! I’ve been to China and South Korea on short term mission trips before. If there was a way I could bypass the missions degree and go straight into the field, I would almost be tempted to consider it. But, I remember what Paul told young Timothy in Ephesus. “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the of truth. (1 Tim. 2:15)” I feel I should know what He has said in the book before being completely immersed in ministry overseas.
