Hello all!  My name is Estee Laing.  Let me just tell you a little about myself.  I am 20 years old.  I go to Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, Alabama.  I major in Bible and Theology and my program of study is Intercultural Missions.  I really have a passion for the Fine Arts and I love to sing, draw, and anything else of that nature.  I grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina with my family.  I am the oldest of three kids.  We are all very close in age.  My sister is only four years younger than me.  My brother started college this past fall, and I feel really old. 

 

I grew up in a Christian home, and was "saved" at a young age.  I attended a large non-denominational church in Charlotte called MorningStar Fellowship.  My parents were in the worship band there.  From the time I was in the 2nd grade to about the first half of 8th grade i attended Schools of Fine Arts (Chantilly School of Performing Arts, University Park School of Creative Arts, Northwest School of the Arts).  When I was about ten years old my parents split up.  This had a huge affect on my family.  My mom became clinically depressed and for a while we did not have much to live on.  During my middle school years I was emotionally  tortured by the kids at my school (Of course, many people have terrible middle school memories). 

 

In fall of 2001, my mom began to talk about moving to her hometown in Cordova, Alabama.  I did not like that idea at first but after a few visits I was excited about the new change that was going to come about.  We moved there during the Christmas break.  I started school and right away the people there accepted me.  I was the cool new "yankee" girl on campus (to all Alabamians you are considered a yankee if you come from anywhere north of here).  I started to go to a church called Mt. Philadelphia Baptist Church.  That's where my walk with the Lord grew and where I developed a heart for missions.  I surrendered to the "Call" there.  They are supporting me as I am following God's call on my life.  I am now going to the Church at Brookhills while I am at school.  David Platt is the pastor of this HUGE church and he has a huge heart for reaching/discipling the nations.  I highly suggest you guys subscribe to his podcast!
