We were asked to write a blog about how we were called to this mission trip.
Hey, team! Well, the story
goes-After accepting Christ about a year ago, I wanted to seek the Lord’s face
every moment of every day. The Church I am involved with out here at A&M
has a huge emphasis on missions, and I felt the Lord calling me to serve Him
and bring glory to His name specifically through missions. Granted that I’m
going into the field of social work, I have a passion for working with young
children. Yet, the college mission trips offered through my church were
strictly working with college students overseas. I asked God if this is what He
wanted me to do and He told me that I needed to step out of my comfort zone;
that he wanted me somewhere else. I knew I was called to working with young
children, and I have a huge heart for Africa, orphans, AIDS, and sharing the
Gospel with those of all ages who particularly are living in harsh conditions.
My hope was to find a trip that fulfilled all of these things God laid on my
heart. I spent quite a bit of time searching online for various organizations,
and I stumbled upon the Adventures in Missions website. As I began reading over
the details of the ministry in Swaziland, I was completely overjoyed. The Lord
had just opened a door for me. I felt the Spirit move in me as I recognized
that AIM was the organization I had been called to serve with.
As I began the
application process, our Father kept reminding me of his awesome plan as He
promised me He would provide everything I needed in getting to Africa. We
have all been called to “Go.” I’ll admit I was slightly nervous of picking a
specific country overseas, but God has assured me that, I’m exactly where He’s
called to be for the upcoming summer. As I have formed relationships with
y’all, it’s so evident that all of our hearts are in the same spot. We share a
similar passion. The Lord’s already bonded us so that we will be prepared to go
and fellowship with one another and serve our Father together to the best of
our abilities. The craziest part is that I’ve never even talked with y’all in
person and I already feel like you guys are family to me. I have no doubt the
Lord is going to do some amazing things as we continue His work in Swaziland. I
am totally confident that we all have something to bring to the table as we
travel to Swaziland together, and I am so incredibly blessed to be part of this
amazing team. I absolutely cannot wait to see how the Lord reveals Himself to
us throughout this entire mission.
Isaiah 41:9-13
“I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”
“God of this City”- Chris Tomlin
You’re the God of this city
You’re the King of these people
You’re the Lord of this nation
You Are
You’re the Lord of Creation
The Creator of all things
You’re the King above all Kings
You Are
You’re the strength in our weakness
You’re the love to the broken
You’re the joy in the sadness
You Are
Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done in this city
Greater things are still to come
And greater things are still to be done here
